HEIGHT

Tokyo Skytree is a neo-futuristic broadcasting and observation tower with a height of 634 meters (2,080 feet), making it the tallest structure in Japan. Its design transitions from a triangular base to a circular shape as it rises.

The number 634 is symbolic and can be read as “Musashi” in Japanese, referencing the historic Musashi Province.

TWO DECKS

Tokyo Skytree has two main observation areas: the Tembo Deck at 350 meters (1,148 feet) and the Tembo Galleria at 450 meters (1,476 feet). Each observation area spans three floors and offers different viewing perspectives.

The highest publicly accessible point is the Sorakara Point, located at the top of the Tembo Galleria at a height of 451.2 meters (1,480 feet).

TEMBO ELEVATOR (SHUTTLE)

Access to the Tembo Deck is via the Tembo Shuttle elevator, which reaches 350 meters in under one minute. The elevator operates at a speed of approximately 600 meters per minute.

The elevator includes seasonal interior designs and display panels that show the current elevation during the ascent.

TEMBO DECK 350m

The Tokyo Skytree Tembo Deck is the lower of the two observation areas and is located across the 340th, 345th, and 350th floors. Visitors can view the city through large observation windows and glass floor sections. The deck also includes restaurants, cafés, souvenir shops, and a commemorative photo area.

Additional facilities include a currency exchange desk, ticket counters, mobile battery rental services, and luggage lockers.

The Tembo Deck is fully accessible and wheelchair-friendly, and is the highest observation area accessible by wheelchair.

Reservations can be made up to 30 days in advance.

TEMBO GALLERY 450m

The Tembo Galleria is Tokyo Skytree’s upper observation area and is located on the 445th and 450th floors. A gently sloped spiral walkway leads to the Sorakara Point, the highest observation point open to visitors, at a height of 451.2 meters. The area may also host scheduled exhibitions or events.

The Skytree Archives display videos and images documenting changes in Tokyo’s landscape, population, and culture over time. The observation area also includes high-definition digital telescopes that provide detailed views of the city below.

Tokyo SKYTREE at night

In the evening, Tokyo Skytree is illuminated with a series of lighting designs that change throughout the year. The standard illumination transitions between cool blue-white and warm golden tones, known as “Iki” and “Miyabi,” reflecting both modern Tokyo and its historical Edo-era heritage.

Iki (Sky Blue): The primary nighttime illumination, representing Tokyo’s contemporary character and Skytree’s role as a modern landmark.

Miyabi (Champagne Gold): A warm golden illumination that complements Iki and references the cultural aesthetics of the Edo period.

Sakura (Pink): A seasonal illumination displayed during cherry blossom season, typically from late March to early April.

Fuyu (Snow White): A winter-themed illumination inspired by snowy landscapes.

Natsu (Blue): A summer illumination associated with water and clear seasonal skies.
